Land-Based Activities in USA

Activities that usually occur on land, more than on snow or water, constitute the biggest category of recreational participation in the United States of America. These activities may include:

 As usual these activities occur in land settings. Walking is one of the most famous kinds of activities in the USA. People prefer walking outdoors just for fun and exercise. Walking can occur in local parks, neighborhood streets or in rather remote places such as forest trails. Also one of the most popular kinds of activities is considered to be biking. People are fond of biking in big cities, on backcountry roads, cross country. Mountain biking is also very popular.Spend at least a few days exploring the Yosemite National Park, California. Between granite cliffs, waterfalls, mountains, lakes, giant sequoia groves, and more, you could spend a whole year here and never see it all. Montana's Glacier National Park can offer the most beautiful mountain sceneries in the United States. Here you can observe mountains, lakes, glaciers, valleys, and waterfalls. One of the best ways to appreciate the terrain is from the famous Going-to-the-Sun Road

Camping and backpacking in the USA are the most traditional kinds of the outdoor recreation. Developed camping means to stay overnight near the road in the developed campgrounds such as provided in National parks or National Forests, and especially those in State Parks. Primitive camping is to stay overnight in the primitive settings with the lack of the most part of the amentias of the developed campground. To carry the water and to provide yourself with all camping facilities you must alone. Yellowstone National Park is home to a huge ancient volcano which has resulted in a dramatic landscape and awesome natural phenomena. Viewing activities and learning activities include visiting nature centers and trails, zoos and other interesting outdoor-oriented education facilities. These activities are very popular in the United States. The quintessential Southern city, Savannah draws millions of tourists every year to its charming scenes of Victorian architecture, cobbled streets, moss-draped oaks and leisurely pace. Lying on the Atlantic Coast in eastern Georgia, Savannah is the state’s oldest city, rich in history, hospitality and natural beauty.

Chicago is set on the shores of Lake Michigan being one of the greatest destinations in USA, with parks and a beautiful waterfront. Arts and cultural attractions of Chicago, as well as fantastic shopping, make it a popular year-round destination.

People in the USA want to learn about nature, its environment. American history and culture are significant reasons for the development of outdoor recreation in the USA.

Viewing activities and photographing activities include birdwatching, viewing wildlife (bear, deer, etc), viewing natural vegetation and wildflowers are also very popular activities in the USA. Attracting millions of visitors every year, the Grand Canyon is one of the great tourist attractions in the United States.  Visitors standing on the rim of the canyon can see down to the canyon floor a mile below, and look out over the ridges and cliffs that run as far as the eye can see. Situated along the Canada-US border, Niagara Falls is one of the most famous waterfalls in the world. The water from Lake Erie flows into Lake Ontario over these massive waterfalls, known for the great quantity of water that is constantly tumbling over the vertical drop. 

You can meet three types of hunting in the USA: Big Game, Small Game, Migratory Birds

 You may prefer hunting big game species, for e.x. deer, elk, turkey,  large mammals and birds. Others may prefer hunting small game species, for e.x. rabbits, squirrels and other small mammals. You also may hunt on migratory birds, primarily geese and ducks. The best places for hunting are Alaska, Georgetown South Carolina, Appleton Wisconsin, Arizona

To drive for pleasure and sightseeing is a famous activity for many people in the USA. You may prefer off-road driving while using 4-wheel vehicles, a motorcycle or ATV’s. A universal symbol of freedom, the Statue of Liberty is America's most familiar icon and the largest statue in the world. Standing 152 ft in New York Harbor, visitors can admire the statue from various points around the city. Bustling Times Square, popular for its flashing billboards, New Year's Eve count down, and constant throngs of people, lies at the heart of Midtown Manhattan New York. The White House is the official residence of the President of the United States, and on almost all tourists' list of things to see in Washington. Walt Disney World Resort is  the most famous amusement park in the world located in Orlando. Walt Disney World Resort is the top family attraction in the USA,  interesting to both young and old for decades. 

Las Vegas is located in the desert , but this glittering city of lights  attract visitors for decades. Huge resort complexes, with all kinds of things to see and do at any time of year, 

Arching across San Francisco Bay, joining San Francisco and Marin County, the Golden Gate Bridge is really considered to be a California icon since it was built in the 1930s.

A traditional activity may include family gathering and picnicking.

Water-based activities in the USA include fishing, floating, swimming activities. Motor boating is famous in the USA

The hot spot of southern Florida, Miami is one of the greatest beaching destination in USA. Wonderful beaches can be found all over Florida, but  just Miami can offer an atmosphere like no other city in the state.

Southern California possesses the culture all of its own, and Los Angeles is the epicenter of this unique culture. The city has always been associated with world glamour, with the most famous suburbs of Hollywood and  Beverly Hills

Water skiing is also as popular as motor boating.

Jet skiing is considered to be the form of engine-powered boating.

Wind-powered boating (windsurfing and sailboarding) is not so popular motorized types of boating.  You have to possess the high amount of skills for enjoying sail boarding, windsurfing or sailing a boat.  

Waikiki is the home to the most popular beach in the Hawaiian Islands and possibly the most famous beach in the Pacific. Today Waikiki  s a cross between tropical paradise and modern city.

Fishing can be organized in lakes, streams, oceans. Crappie, bass are the most familiar species. Many people prefer fishing in the oceans, the ocean sounds and inlets, tidal estuaries, inland saltwater lakes. A great number of Americans are fond of scuba diving or going snorkeling.

Snow-And-Ice-Based Activities

Snowboarding, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling are the most famous types of ice and snow activities. 

Snowboarding has gained its popularity over the last few years. While visiting USA you can notice that the outdoor recreation occupies the significant part of American life. Join to this life and you’ll receive unforgettable impressions coloring the life with perfect feelings.
