Poland

Welcome to Poland

Regiones and Cities Events Places Activities Experience People

Football is a national favourite and the top league teams usually attract sell-out crowds. However, even local village matches attract large and enthusiastic crowds. One reason for the nationwide support is the frenzied construction of stadiums and co-hosting the Euro 2012 with the Ukraine.

Tennis and cycling are also local favourites although Poland has no international stars.  American sports, particularly basketball, are beginning to increase in popularity while hikers tend to flock to the Tatra Mountains in the south. However, with 23 national parks, there are more than enough opportunities for walks and horseriding. Watersport enthusiasts should head to Sopot in the north and Mazury in the northeast while skiiers tend to head to southern mountain resorts like Zakopane from November to February.
