Welcome to Nicaragua

Regiones and Cities Events Places Activities Experience People

Nicaragua is considered to be the country with the largest nation but it’s least visited by the tourists. This fact has to be changed as Nicaragua can propose you beautiful landscapes of mountains, lakes, volcanoes, rainforests. Unfortunately almost all ancient buildings in Nicaragua were destroyed during revolutions and civil wars. Costa Rica will suit you better if you want to spend your time while visiting museums. Nicaragua is the place for those who adore wild beauty of the nature.

The national sport of Nicaragua is considered to be baseball. Each town in this country possesses its own team. Football is also very famous. Even small children play football in the streets.

If you like surfing, Nicaragua is rather suitable for you. The Pacific coast has the endless amount of beaches. The most famous place is San Juan del Sur just near the borders of Costa Rica. Here you can find surf camps, board sales. Hiking is rather famous in Nicaragua, especially not far away from volcanoes on Isla de Ometepe or from mountains that are around Matagalpa or Estelí. Diving or snorkeling can be organized on the Corn Islands on the Atlantic coast. By the way Nicaragua is the only country in the world where you can organize volcano boarding. Volcano boarding can be organized with the usage of the customized plank in order to ride all the ashes that are on the Cerro Negro volcano not far away from León.
