Shiga is a Japanese prefecture to the east of Kyoto, on the island of Honshu. It contains the enormous freshwater Lake Biwa, whose shoreline is home to the regional capital, Otsu, as well as the city of Hikone, Sakamoto, and Nagahama, beaches resort.
