Welcome to Switzerland

Regiones and Cities Events Places Activities Experience People

With outstanding public transport and incredible scenery, it’s easy to understand why Switzerland is one of the best destinations in Europe for hiking and climbing. The choice for skiers and snowboarders in particular is overwhelming with several top-class resorts. Verbier and Zermatt are famous for their challenging on- and off-piste skiing, while intermediate skiers are advised to visit resorts like Mürren, Grindelwald and Wengen in the Jungfrau region. Summer skiing is also an option at the glaciers at Saas Fee and Zermatt.

The 65,000km of marked trails with stunning Alpine views makes hiking a favourite hobby for the Swiss with the Jungfrau and Zermatt regions being the most favoured. Trails are clearly marked in yellow for hiking and red for the nationwide cycling network. Bike gear is available for rent from main stations for biking while cities like Zuri-rollt and Genève’roule, have free summer bike schemes.

The mountainous landscape with its glaciers, gorges and rapid rivers makes Switzerland a great destination for adventure sports. The main resorts have several companies that offer summer activities ranging from canyoning, rafting, bungee-jumping, zorbing. From 4,000m, hang-gliding, paragliding and skydiving can be done independently or with an instructor.
