Waikato is a local government region of the upper North Island of New Zealand. It covers the Waikato District, Waipa District, Matamata-Piako District, South Waikato District and Hamilton City, as well as Hauraki, Coromandel Peninsula, etc.
Description
The Waikato River is New Zealand's longest river at 425 km in length. It is punctuated by elegant dams and tranquil hydro-lakes as it flows through the North Island's rural heartland, close to State Highway 1.
