Lake Turkana, formerly known as Lake Rudolf, is a lake in the Kenyan Rift Valley, in northern Kenya, with its far northern end crossing into Ethiopia. It is the world's largest permanent desert lake and the world's largest alkaline lake.
Description
Lake Turkana is a massive inland sea and the largest desert lake in the world. This single body of water is over 250 kilometers long- longer than the entire Kenyan coast. The treasure that lies in Lake Turkana is the massive crocodile population, which grows to a record size, with some of the largest specimens found on remote windswept Central Island.
