Taytay, officially the Municipality of Taytay, is a 1st class municipality in the province of Rizal, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 319,104 people.
Description
Formerly the capital of Palawan, Taytay today is a port town that most travellers pass through unknowingly on their way to/from El Nido. Its appeal lies in being everything El Nido is not: sleepy, provincial and almost completely devoid of tourists. Diversions include island-hopping in Taytay Bay, several waterfalls and an old Spanish fort. North of town on the west coast, extinct volcano Mt Capoas (1000m) looms over Malampaya Sound, where dugongs and Irrawaddy dolphins can sometimes be spotted.
