Overview
South Garo Hills is an administrative district in the state of Meghalaya in India. As of 2011 it is the least populous district of Meghalaya. The district was established in 1992.
Description
One of the most unexplored destinations in India is the untouched natural beauty of South Garo Hills. Situated in the south of Meghalaya, South Garo Hills is one of the smallest districts in the country. The district headquarters is in Baghmara and the district is especially known for its difficult terrain. The South Garo Hills shares its borders with East Garo Hills in the north, West Khasi Hills in the east, West Garo Hills in the west, and parts of Bangladesh in the south. South Garo Hills tourism is still in its nascent stage and there are several unexplored destinations here. The government of Meghalaya is taking the initiative to make it one of the adventure destinations in the state. For the enthusiasts, South Garo Hills tourism boasts of the Balpakram National Park, Chidimak, and the Siju Cave.
