Description
Rusinga Island Lodge is a remote and unspoiled destination that is ideal for an East African safari that's off the beaten track. The lodge is situated surrounded by beautiful grounds on the shores of Lake Victoria. Stay in comfortable thatched cottages that have scenic views over the sparkling water.
Relax and enjoy a bit of fishing. Head out in one of the boats and try catching a huge Nile Perch or Tilapia which the chef will be willing to cook for dinner. Go for a cycling trip around the island passing local villages. There are many species of birds in the area, many of which are not found in the rest of Kenya.
The lodge is built close to an archaeological dig where thousands of fossils have been found. Guests staying at the lodge can go on a guided tour of the dig and learn about the fossil finds. Grab one of the mountain bikes and go for a cycle around the island or just relax on one of the loungers by the pool. Savor delicious meals out on the lawns, on the jetty or by the pool, and take in the tranquillity of the Island.
