Rügen is a German island in the Baltic Sea. It’s known for its beaches and white chalk cliffs, like the King's Chair on the Jasmund peninsula. The King's Chair has a viewing platform and visitors centre with exhibits on Rügen nature.

Although summer draws thousands of visitors to its shores, Rügen’s lush 1000-sq-km surface area fringed by 574km of coastline means there are still plenty of quiet corners to escape the crowds. You can appreciate Rügen on a day-trip from Stralsund.
