Overview
Medvednica is a mountain in central Croatia, just north of Zagreb, and marking the southern border of the historic region of Zagorje. The highest peak, at 1,035 m is Sljeme. Most of the area of Medvednica is a nature park.
Description
Looming proudly above Zagreb, Mt Medvednica offers up an easy nature escape for Zagreb locals who ski here in winter and chuck on their hiking boots to hit the verdant hillsides for the rest of the year. As well as enjoying the fresh air, forest scenery and outdoor activities, day-trippers can check out the mountain's medieval fort and the humongous cave before joining the locals for lunch at one of the mountain huts that pepper the slopes.
