Miri

Overview

Miri is a Malaysian city on the northwest coast of the island of Borneo. At the Petroleum Museum, on Canada Hill, hands-on exhibits explore the region’s oil history. Outside is the Grand Old Lady, a 1910 oil well and local landmark.

Description

Miri, Sarawak's second city, is a thriving oil town that is vibrant and modern. Thanks to the offshore oil, there are plenty of service industries and money sloshing around, so the eating is good, the broad avenues are brightly lit, and there’s plenty to do when it’s raining.
