Kushiro-shitsugen National Park is a national park located in the east of the island of Hokkaido, Japan. It was designated as a national park on 31 July 1987. The park is known for its wetlands ecosystems.

Description

Kushiro-shitsugen National Park (Kushiro Wetlands National Park), at 269 sq km, is Japan's largest undeveloped wetland. It was designated a national park in 1987 to combat urban sprawl and protect the habitat of numerous species, chiefly the tanchō-zuru (red-crowned white crane), the traditional symbol of both longevity and Japan.
