Overview

Gunma is a mountainous, landlocked prefecture on Japan's Honshu Island. Its known for hot springs and ski areas. The town of Kusatsu has more than 100 hot spring most famously Yubatake large pool by steaming mineral water gushing down a wooden chute.

Description

Mineral baths seem to bubble out of the ground at every turn in the dramatic forested mountain landscape of Gunma Prefecture. Its most famous onsen town is Kusatsu, but there are many others that are less commercial. All that water and mountain adds up to great outdoor activities, ranging from skiing in winter to rafting and canyoning in spring and summer.
