Funabashi is a city located in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. As of February 2016, the city had an estimated population of 623,679, and a population density of 7,280 persons per km². The total area is 85.62 square kilometers.

Description

Funabashi, city, western Chiba ken (prefecture), east-central Honshu, Japan. It is situated on the northeastern coast of Tokyo Bay between the cities of Urayasu (west) and Narashino (east). Formed by the amalgamation of the post town of Funabashi with the fishing village of Katsushika in 1937, it is a major component of the Tokyo-Yokohama metropolitan area.
