Bláfjöll

Overview

Bláfjöll are a small mountain range in the southwest of Iceland on Reykjanes peninsula at about 30 km from Reykjavík. They form sort of a double mountain massif to the west and in the east of Jósepsdalur on Hellisheiði.

Description

The ski slopes at 84-sq-km Bláfjöll have 16 lifts and downhill, cross-country and snowboarding facilities. You can hire gear at reasonable rates. The slopes often have enough snow from around late December through to March.

Bláfjöll is about 25km southeast of Reykjavík on Rte 417, just off Rte 1. A shuttle bus (2000kr return) leaves from the Mjódd bus terminal once daily in season – check the website for departure times.
