Overview
Biokovo is the second-highest mountain range in Croatia, located along the Dalmatian coast of the Adriatic Sea, between the rivers of Cetina and Neretva. It is sometimes referred to as Bijakovo, especially among inhabitants of eastern side mountains.
Description
The hulking limestone Biokovo massif, Makarska's moody backdrop, offers hiking opportunities with views aplenty. You can also drive on a rough, single-track, 23km road all the way to Sveti Jure (1762m), its highest peak. Park entry fees apply, payable at the Biokovo Nature Park booth at the beginning of Biokovska, the main road that runs up the mountain.
