Overview
Bicol is a region in the Philippines encompassing the southern part of Luzon Island and nearby island provinces. Caramoan, a peninsula in the east, is dotted with caves, limestone cliffs and white-sand beaches.
Description
Nearby, Catanduanes Island has mountains, waterfalls and coral reefs. Donsol, in the west, is home to whale sharks. The region’s active volcanoes include Bulusan Volcano and Mayon Volcano. Bicol is famous among Filipinos for its spicy food, while among travellers it's best known for its active volcanoes and the whale sharks of Donsol. But there's quite a bit more to this less-travelled region: explore barely visited beaches, island-hop on a bangka and experience some of the most unusual and exuberant festivals in the country.
