Overview
Angkor Thom, located in present-day Cambodia, was the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer Empire. It was established in the late twelfth century by King Jayavarman VII.
Description
It's hard to imagine any building bigger or more beautiful than Angkor Wat, but in Angkor Thom (Great City; អង្គរធំ) the sum of the parts add up to a greater whole. Set over 10 sq km, the aptly named last great capital of the Khmer empire took monumental to a whole new level.
