Alta Badia

Overview

Alta Badia is a ski resort in the Dolomites of northern Italy, in the upper part of the Val Badia in South Tyrol. It is included in the territories of the municipalities of Corvara, Badia, and La Val.

Description

The Alta Badia in the southern part of the Val Badia valley stretches on 16 km between the Val Pusteria and Val Gardena in South Tyrol as well as the Val di Fassa, Cortina, and Arabba. The area includes the villages of Colfosco, Corvara, La Villa, La Val, San Cassiano and Badia with Pedraces and San Leonardo, a hamlet situated at the foot of the majestic Mt. Sasso di Santa Croce.

These localities have become popular winter and summer holiday destinations: here you are in the heart of beautiful mountains, and here you can explore the famous Gran Risa slope as well as the Sella Ronda on skis. The area is very proud of its customs and traditions - a perfect example is the Ladin language, which is still spoken in the Dolomite valleys surrounding the Sella alpenstock.
