Description

Laguna del Lagarto covers a total of 664 acres (269 ha), 247 acres (100 ha) of which are primary, virgin rainforest. Make sure to bring your camera and hiking shoes, as you’ll want to fill your days here with hiking and nature photography. Besides the many hiking trails, there are also a few lakes where you can take boating and canoeing tours. Laguna del Lagarto emphasizes sustainability, which is especially important in this part of the world — one of the few remaining habitats for the green macaw.

The restaurant has a buffet that serves traditional, homestyle cooking. The food here is made with local ingredients, including an abundant selection of tropical fruit. You can expect to have a piping hot cup of coffee with breakfast. You can also sip on fresh fruit juice – may be mixed into a tropical cocktail. Birdwatching doesn't have to pause during your meals – feeders on the balcony attract an interesting variety of birds that you can observe from the dining room.

Rooms come with fans – not air conditioning, although it typically cools off in the evening. You can request an upscale room that comes with a balcony with hammocks. Each room has a private bathroom. There is some Wi-Fi available on the grounds, although it is not super fast in this part of the world.

Visitors come here for unforgettable nature tours and unparalleled bird watching.
