Overview

Point Pelee National Park is a national park in Essex County in southwestern Ontario, Canada where it extends into Lake Erie. The word pelée is French for 'bald'. Point Pelee consists of a peninsula of land, mainly of marsh and woodland habitats.

Description

A lush Carolinian forest oasis at the southernmost tip of Canada, Point Pelee National Park resounds with migrating songbirds in spring, hums with cicadas in summer, flutters with Monarch butterflies in the fall and is a peaceful place of reflection in the winter. Enjoy swimming at park beaches, ride our expanded cycling trails, picnic with family, or paddle in the marsh. Stay the night in our Parks Canada oTENTik village. Park open year-round with enhanced facilities and services, including a free transit service and park Visitor Centre, from mid-April to mid-October. Interpretive programming available seasonally, Festival of Birds event annually in May.
