Usually referred to by its initials, EI, is an extreme and curious sport discipline in which people take ironing boards with them to far locations. It’s a regulatory entity, the Extreme Ironing Bureau, which defines extreme ironing as "the latest danger sport that combines the thrills of extreme outdoor activity with the satisfaction of a well-pressed shirt.” They assure it is not a joke at all.
The media has taken the surprising fascination towards the sport due to its curious nature resulted in its unexpected rise in popularity. Though obviously it’s considered a humorous parody rather than a serious sport.
Its popularity has afforded something of a cult status to Extreme Ironing, with their zealot followers, known as ‘ironists’, dutifully performing their shore in remote places such as Antarctica, or the middle of a go-kart circuit during a race at Stratham Road.
Among locations where such performances have been performed we can underline the process of skiing and snowboarding, mountainside of a difficult climb, in a canoe, a forest, on top of the big bronze statues, underwater, while parachuting, under the frozen lake.
