Executed on hiking trails, dirt roads, paths in forests, unpaved roads, etc. – is known as mountain bike trail riding or trail biking. However, there are also designated trail centres like slickrock Trail or the Munda Biddi Trail in Western Australia – the latter of which is one of the longest off-road trails in the world at over 1,000km.
Mountain Bike Marathons or Touring involve touring a long distance with a mountain bike on either a solitary track or a dirt path. Specially designed and fitted bikes are being used more and more for touring long distance off-road trails such as the Great Divide Trail and the Colorado Trail. These trails are very popular nowadays.
