Overview
Sansicario is a frazione of the comune of Cesana Torinese in Piedmont, north-western Italy. It lies at 1,700 m in the Val Susa. It is a famous winter tourist resort.
Description
Sansicario is part of the Milky Way (or Via Lattea) resorts which link the old French border town of Montgenèvre with Italian ski areas including Clavière, Cesana, Sestriere, Pragelato and Sauze d'Oulx.
The resort has something of a split personality – a traditional village linked with a purpose-built complex. Sansicario was also home to a number of events at the 2006 Winter Olympics, including the women's downhill.
