Brenta Dolomites

 
Overview

The Brenta Group of Brenta Dolomites is a mountain range and a subrange of the Rhaetian Alps in the Southern Limestone Alps mountain group. They are located in the Province of Trentino, in northeastern Italy.

Description

The Brenta Dolomites in Trentino, Italy, stretch over a length of about 40 km. The Brenta Dolomites are bordered to the south by Lake Molveno and Valle Giudicarie, to the west by Val Rendena and Campo Carlo Magno Pass, to the north by Val Meledrio and Val di Sole and to the east by Val di Non. The main towns in the Brenta Dolomites are Madonna di CampiglioPinzoloMalè, and Molveno.



The Brenta Dolomites in Italy are part of the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park and are also part of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites. They include numerous peaks of over 3,000 m in altitude. The most famous are the Cima Brenta (3,151 m), the Cima Tosa (3,173 m), the Cima d'Ambiez (3,102 m), and the Torre di Brenta (3,008 m). Another attraction in the Brenta Dolomites is Lake Tovel. It became known as it goes very dark red color in the summer months since the 1960s, due to algae in the summer months.



The Brenta Group has one of the most famous alpine highways and the most beautiful continuous via Ferrata in the Alps: the "Via delle Bocchette".
